Video: C3 Technologies 3D mapping may be coming to iOS.

Apple products such as the iPhone and iPad currently use Google Maps as their default mapping App. With Apple and Google in constant legal battles, it seems Apple is working hard to develop its own map service to cut ties with Google.

Apple last year bought Poly 9, a 3D mapping company, and has recently purchased C3 Technologies, which uses a declassified government missile guidance method to render detail of buildings, trees, and even smaller objects. These purchases show that not only is Apple working to create its own Map software, but to have it in amazing 3D detail as well.
